任長髮在沉默中生長Uncut — Grow in Silence

Project statement / English

In this project, I use my long hair as both a personal symbol and a site of resistance against social discipline. Through photographing the interactions between my hair and everyday objects, I explore how a once-regulated physical trait transforms into a silent form of defiance. Drawing on Michel Foucault's theory of bodily discipline and Roland Barthes' ideas on the symbolic nature of everyday objects, the project reflects on how external appearances are socially constructed and internalized. By presenting long hair not as a mere aesthetic choice but as a historical trace of identity formation, I seek to examine the tensions between social conformity and personal autonomy within the frameworks that govern our bodies.

頭髮緩慢生長，也把時間留在身體之上。在這個項目裡，我把自己的長髮視為一種個人記號，也將它作為抵抗社會規訓的所在。鏡頭記錄頭髮與日常物件的相遇，也記錄一種曾被規範的身體特徵，如何在沉默中長成自己的姿態。

關於身體規訓的思考，以及日常物件所承載的象徵意義，構成了作品的另一層線索。長髮對我而言不只是審美選擇，它也留下了身份形成的痕跡。在那些規定身體應當如何出現的框架之中，我想看見社會順從與個人自主之間，始終沒有消失的張力。
